Blanket Clips...or are they???

Hi guys!  I am so impressed with all of the great projects you girls made without your hubby's!!!  Great work:)  I'm back with a tutorial on how I made these super cute clips for my Basket-O-Blankets.  These were very easy!

I started with these three unfinished wooden clips that I purchased at Hobby Lobby (50% off).

I took them apart to prep them for painting...

I used a new favorite color of mine from Rust-Oleum called Slate Blue.

I put them back together when the paint was dry and sanded the edges and corners with my 3M sanding block.

I then hot glued these unfinished wooden fleur de lis

(that I painted with Rust-Oleum Heirloom White) to the top of each clip.

A good coat of Ralph Lauren Smoke Glaze (paint on and wipe off) followed.

Now for the ribbon...

Open the end and drop a dab of hot glue in the center...

and attach a ribbon of choice at one end and that's it!!!

Just roll up a blanket, wrap the ribbon and secure the other end with the clip!

We have been using these for a few weeks now and I still love them!  My boys love these blankets so I wasn't sure if I would get sick of wrapping them everyday but I don't.  It's super easy and a decorative way to store them:)  Totally worth it!!!

I got to thinking one day that these clips would be so cute as magnets for notes on the fridge as well.  So, I did that too!

I purchased this strip of adhesive magnet for $1 at Michaels.

It's very easy to use.  You just cut the size strip(s) you need...

and stick them on the back.  I added one to the center because these clips are heavy.

Tada!

LOVE THIS!!!  I think I will go back and buy more.  What a fun way to dress up the fridge:)

we have had the big clips as magnets for a while now and my oldest has claimed one to show off his accomplishments. Every time he has a new one he races to tell his father when he gets home from work. :)

Great tutorial! :o)
Is the glaze already "colored" or do you have to ask the paint department to do so?

Love these! I love the "blankets" sign, too! I'm going to hope they carry these clips at Michaels since we don't have a Hobby Lobby here.

I love these, but envy that you blankets actually get put away. I love the color and decoration, they really make them special. You did such a good job.

These clips are great! I've used regular sized clothespins for the fridge, but the weight of the paper would pull them sliding down! I am determined to find them as we do not :( have a Hobby Lobby!
