It's been a long time....

Hey strangers!  It's been almost three months to be exact!  I can't believe it's been so long since my last post but we have had some distractions around here:)

Tenley Nicole born November 2, 2010

I want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  We are doing great and starting to establish some routine.  Now on to the crafting:)

We started decorating the house for Christmas this week and that really got me motivated to do some DIY!  I love Christmas decor so what better way to get the creative juices flowing!

I started with this Christmas centerpiece.  It has all of my favorites ~ snow, Antique White spray paint and silver!  I should also mention that it cost me practically nothing!

I started with these twigs that I found laying around.  I snapped them to about 4 inches long (give or take with each piece) and spray painted them with Rust-Oleum Antique White spray paint.  I just layed the pieces out on newspaper and sprayed one side.  It was super quick and easy.

Next I used two of these small sized (jelly jar size) mason jars and one larger size to act as the votives.  I had the small ones (bought a case of 12 at Wal-mart last year) but I had to purchase the larger one at Hobby Lobby.  It was 50% off so the jar was about a dollar!  They also have the larger size at Wal-mart.

I always have jute in the house but if you don't have any you can buy this 4ply at Hobby Lobby.  With a coupon it's a couple of bucks and it goes a long way!

I started wrapping the tops of all three jars with the jute, hot gluing as I went.  This was a cute addition and it also got rid of the rings around the lid!

One down....so cute!

Remember the sticks?

I just attached them (paint side out) all the way around the large mason jar.  A little dab of hot glue holds them great!

Next, I wrapped a few strands of 1 ply jute around the jar, knotting and cutting off the excess as I went.

Now for some sparkle!  I purchased these wooden snowflake ornaments at Hobby Lobby.  They are usually 4 for a dollar but they were also 50% off so they were 8 for a dollar.  I stocked up!

I sprayed three snowflakes with a new favorite Rust-Oleum Textured Metallic spray paint in Silver.  It's soooo pretty!  I just want to walk around my house and spray everything:)

Ooooo sparkles:)

I hot glued one to each of the smaller "votives".

I bought this package of 12 tealight candles for about $3 after a 40% off coupon.

Another Christmas favorite ~ bag of snowflakes...also purchased at Hobby Lobby.

So there it is!  My first post baby DIY.  It was sooooo cheap and easy!  I hope you all like it:)

I love it and of course, I love sweet baby Tenley. As much as I have seen her, I don't think I have seen her eyes yet.

I think you should feature your Mom's tree and her ornament box. I love it!

Your little one is just too darling for words! How you find time to craft inbetween settling into a new routine is admirable :) I always think that mommy's need to take a few moment where they can to do the things that feed them personally. I love your beautiful centre piece. Thanks for the lovely ideas.
