Switch It... Change It...

You don't have to spend much time with me to know that I change my mind OFTEN.  I think it is a sickness of some sort.  With the baby on the way I have been trying to get the older girls' room finished and in the process I decided to change up the rooms.  It all started with a trip to Home Goods.  I always get in trouble there.  My original plan was to make their bedding to match the Amy Butler headboards I did HERE.  This all changed when I found these cuties here...

I fell in love with these great $30 quilt sets I found at Home Goods.  For $60 I got 2 quilts and 2 matching shams... Can't beat that!  There was only one problem.  The girls' room is painted a really pale pink.  Normally this wouldn't bother me and I would just paint but it was painted just a little over a year ago.  So, after much brainstorming with my sisters I decided to switch their room with the baby's room.  Here is the very blank slate...

Notice the "temporary" roller shades that have now been hanging for a year...

This room is already a pale blue that I love and it had other perks as well so I spent the day moving.  It did pose a few challenges with the little attic door and working with 2 twin beds, but I got it all moved... Myself... Without my hubby :) ! I also managed to get the bed skirts made so stop by tomorrow for that tutorial.  It's a cheap way to make your own custom bed skirts.  I will also show you how I placed the furniture in the room.

Also, don't forget about Friday's party! It's that time again... We want to see all your projects you have done without the help of your hubby!  This can be anything you did with your own two hands!

I will see you guys tomorrow!

How BOW-Dacious is this???

So I had to share my latest craft with you guys! I ran across this site several years ago when my girls were just babies and fell in love!  With my baby girl on the way I have once again developed the itch to make some cute hair bows.  I tried very unsuccessfully to make my own bows and never came close to making anything cute.  I finally googled how to make a hair bow and The Ribbon Retreat pulled up.  I was hesitant knowing my very minimal skill but I decided to go for it and I purchased the instructions with the bow maker.  It has been one of the best purchases I have ever made.  I love the boutique bows but you gals know my shanty budget.  I was finally able to create my own bow for any outfit for almost no money.  LOVE it!

These are some of the bows I made in the past to go with the outfits I made the girls...

When you order you receive this bow maker...

... And a cd full of instructions on how to make literally TONS of different bows.  I really was worried that I would get the instructions and give up after 4,435 tries but it was really simple!  After I started making some bows for my new baby girl I knew I had to share this great find with you girls!  Here's a few I have made in the last couple days...

How fun is that??!  After a little practice it will take just a few minutes to make your own super cute, custom bows.  And if you are like me, you will then become addicted to buying ribbon :)

Make sure you go check out The Ribbon Retreat.  I bought the TOTT Hair Bow Instructions and I encourage you gals to do the same.  I have sent many local girls to this site and nobody has been dissappointed!  Tell them that the Shanty Sisters sent you:)!  Happy Saturday!!

Baby Bandwagon

Hey guys!  So we said I had an announcement this week and here it is.....
I've jumped on the Baby Bandwagon too and we are expecting our 3rd little one on Nov. 10 of this year!!!

Baby Bandwagon????  Well, not only are Whitney and I pregnant but our baby sisters Leasha and her hubby are expecting their first October 24!!!!!  So Whitney is due in September, Leasha is due in October and I am due in November - we did not plan it this way I promise but we do feel so blessed that we can all share this experience with each other and raise kids so close in age.    To top that all off our sister Kyndra and her hubs just had their second baby in November so within 1 year we will have welcomed 4 new babys into our family!  Can't wait for Christmas this year!!!!!!  So, you can expect double the baby decor for the next few months as we are both preparing to welcome our little ones into the world:)  (I'm struggling with the energy right now but it I should get it back soon.....)  Hope you all have a great weekend!

Yes... We are still here !!!

Hello Everyone!! Happy Tuesday!!

Ash and I have been taking a small "blogging break" to catch up on sleep, laundry and life :).  I'm in my second trimester now and thank Goodness I am finally getting a small hint of energy back.  I made an announcement to our facebook fans a few weeks ago that I found out my baby will be a boy.  Well.... I had another sono done on April Fool's day and wouldn't you know that I am actually having a little girl!!  I'm not sure exactly what they saw the first time around but she is 150% all girl now.  So I am switching mind sets now to bows, pink and girly nursery projects... stay tuned!  Here is her perfect little handprint...

Also... Don't forget to stop by tonight at 9:00pm central time for I Made it Without My Hubby.  As always, we want to see any and ALL crafts and projects you have done without the help of the hubs.  These don't have to be big projects that involve tools... Just projects you did with your own two hands!  We always look forward to seeing and getting ideas from you ladies who participate!

Finally, make sure you check back with us on Friday.  We have some very fun and exciting news to share with all you guys!  We hope you all had a great Easter! Thanks!!
