Whitney's Nursery!

Hey guys!!

We have had lots of questions about our nurseries.  Ash revealed hers a few weeks ago.  I have been waiting until I feel like it's totally "finished" but knowing my personality that reveal may not happen until she is 2 years old.  So... Here we go :-)

This is E's bed.  We found it pretty cheap at Baby Depot.  I think it was right at $200 and it converts to a toddler bed so I was happy.

This is the armoire that was black and in the living room in it's previous life.  A little paint goes a long way!

I know Ash received a less than friendly comment about the TV in her nursery.  Well, guess what??  Behind those doors hides a TV in my nursery too!  Do our babies watch these? Obviously not.  But, we do enjoy sitting in the rockers with the babies and watching TV.  You know what else??  I bottle feed!  I guess with the TV and bottle feeding combined I might just be in the running for "worst mom of the year".  Seriously people. :-))

Here is the entire wall with my magnetic photo board!

And a little nightstand I revamped.  That is the lamp I showed you guys HERE!

Window shot.

That amazing trunk is one of my next projects.  I think it will go red... What you think??

Chest of drawers...
Painted it yellow and added those great $2 Hobby Lobby knobs!

I LOVE our bedding!  I was ready to whip out the sewing machine and make my own until Ashley sent me a picture of the bedding she chose.  I told her I would be copying and I did just that!

I love the prints of the fabrics!

Bedskirt...

Bumper...

And my rocker (that I happily watch TV in:)...

This rocker started green and I slipcovered it with a thick, soft brown corduroy.
I can show you a tutorial on that later.  Not too hard but oh so time consuming.

And my curtains!  I made these using a drop cloth and attaching some fabric and ribbon to the bottom.

And one more shot...

That's about it!

I'm sure you noticed some blank wall space.  It's all in my head but getting it done will happen soon enough.  I'll keep you posted on it!

Don't forget about tonight's party!

See you then!

~Whitney

Geez, some people just need to keep their opinions to themselves! Pretty sure your kids will be okay;)
Love your room. My poor 8wk old doesn't even have his own room yet! Have to get his big sister in a big girl bed first!

Super cute nursery! I love the fabric on the bedding. I also watch tv while I feed my baby. How else are you supposed to stay awake during those late and early feedings?!? ;)

Her nursery is so adorable! I bet she sleeps really good in it.

Bottle feeding? I can't believe you would give your baby that poison, but hey, I bottle fed all 4 of mine and they even all graduated from college. It must not be too bad!

Love the nursery! Sometimes a TV is what keeps your sanity (in the middle of the night when you haven't really slept in days!). I bottle-fed too. I also work and sometimes let my daughter have fruit snacks, a cookie, or some marchmallows for dessert. Every family is different on works best for them! Moms should all support each other and not judge! I think you are doing a great job and I just LOVE that nursery!! :)

The armoire looks beautiful in that color and the knobs are darling.

Ignore that haters. I laughed that you threw in the line about bottle feeding, too. I took so much crap for that but my kids are happy and healthy (and the oldest just turned 10) so the haters can stuff it.

So cute!! Can't wait to decorate my next nursery! We're about to move to a new house, and I'll for sure be using me some drop cloths. Yay! I'm so encouraged by everyone's comments on mothering. I needed that! Drives me nutty when moms/women judge one another...for reals, like we need one more thing to mess with our minds and hormones. :) By golley, I'm putting a darn tv on my next registry...haha, such a fabulous idea! And bottle feeding saves me from insanity! Thank the Lord for bottles!

Tv and bottle feed??? Next thing you know you will be giving the baby mcdonald's french fries!! Don't people just kill you when they give you their opinions on how you should raise YOUR OWN CHILD???
Love the nursery - as well as everything you have ever done on your blog.

A TV in the nursery is genius! Feeding and having something else to occupy me sounds good to me.

Looks amazing. I would love to see the tutorial for a slipcover. I would love to recover my nursery rocker just like yours.

it's beautiful! Sometimes watching TV is the only way to keep YOURSELF awake when taking care of a baby!

love love love...everything! that's why I never fed my son in his room...no tv! haha! I will have to find a place for a tv in baby #2's room! Where did you get the curtain rod? it looks pretty substantial!! I'm going to have to try the drop cloth curtains...so adorable!

Your nursery is darling! I laughed out loud about the worst mom of the year award! I am constantly sarcastically joking that I will get the Mother Of The Year Award, also known as the MOTY(mow-tee)Award... I have three teenagers, so my opportunities for this are endless! And I think if you having a tv in your nursery is what you want, more power to you! I remember once when my daughter had her first cold and she could only sleep if I rocked her and held her upright over my shoulder. I would have enjoyed some HGTV for the 5hours I rocked her and she slept.

oh that bedding is soo adorable. i love it. the space is such a peaceful and comfortable space. you did such a nice job. i am so jealous of your armoire with a tv!
enter sarcasm: i wish i had a tv in my babies room so i could prop up that bottle and flip on the tube! ya know thats why we have kids... so we can lock them away.im sure the "haters" who comment have thought really hard about the good and evil of tv... yet here they are using INTERNET, which has NO filter. give me a break.
you did an awesome job. thanks for sharing!

I nursed both my kids and am an early literacy specialist who repeatedly tells parents and teachers no TV before the age of two. Guess what.... I think a TV in the nursery is a stroke of genius! I watched so much TV those first few months; it was the only thing that kept me awake for ALL of those middle of the night feedings. I would recommend, as you probably already know, a DVD player/DVR. I ordered some jacked-up stuff off of infomercials in my sleep-deprived state. Slim in Six anyone? I wonder how many of our nobel prize winners, presidents and rocket scientists were bottle-fed... I am guessing quite a few. All that to say... .your nursery is beautiful!

Love that color combo, and the trunk would look great in red.

Your nursery is adorable...I love the bedding! I enjoyed your shout out to bottle fed babies. Mine is bottle fed and people (even Men) make me feel like a criminal. Mean while our baby is so socially advanced for her age (I'm not just being a proud mommy) and is so content...NEVER screams ever. People are always like she is such a wonderful baby...it must be the poison I give her. :)

I think both of your nursery's are beautiful and neither of you should feel guilty having a tv in them, I have both bottlefed and nursed and guess what I watched tv when I did it too!!! and my kids are just as smart, sweet and polite as anyone who didn't so good for you!!:)

precious! now all you need is a mini fridge with a few beers for "those" nights! Seriously people is right!!!

Just found your blog and I love it! Yayyyyy! The person who said something about a TV can go suck it. TV is the greatest invention ever.

AWESOME!! I'm due in August and your nursery looks very similar to ours as far as the way it's laid out and with the huge window (i love a large window). we haven't started yet so this gives me some great ideas. ALSO...I will be BOTTLE FEEDING and WATCHING TV, TOO in our nursery!! we are actually putting an awesome flat screen on the wall!! :)

Natalie said...

Love your bedding..and love your curtains! I will definitely be doing some of these in our 5th baby's room due in June. Can I make a suggestion though...could you possibly move down your crib to put your cute little nightstand next to your comfy chair so you have a place to put your bottle and drink (or book) next to you...and maybe you could put the dresser caddy corner on the wall that the night stand is currently on?

I bottle fed. I also watched TV while I was feeding my little man. But I for sure am the worst mom because I also am a working mom. . .

p.s. I think you're fabulous!

Hey, as long as you're not putting the baby in the armoire and shutting the doors so you can get a break, who CARES if you watch tv while you rock a baby??? Let's just say the invention of the DVR between my 1st and 2nd baby saved my sanity. I watched many an episode of Law & Order in the wee hours!

Lynda said...

I have an armoire just like it but its black, I'm so over black! I love the yellow and now I am inspired to tackle it...but in white!

Christy said...

Would you mind sharing the paint colors you used? Thanks!
