Whitney's Frugal Fall Centerpiece

Oh I am so glad Fall is here!! It is by far my favorite season and by far the most fun to decorate for. I have been itching to start busting out the pumpkins and this weekend that is just what I did. My mother-in-law mentioned that the Marketstreet had their baby ghost pumpkins on sale...3 for $2... say no more! I made a stop at Homegoods before picking them up because I knew I wanted to make a centerpiece and needed some shantys to get the job done. I found these three copper colored candlesticks on the clearance aisle for $3 a piece... SCORE! While I didn't hate their color I decided to spray paint them with Rustoleum American Accents Canyon Black paint. I really can't express enough how GREAT this line of paint is.... SO much better than any others I have tried. You can find it at Hobby Lobby and at Joann's.

While those were drying I took a frame apart and covered the cardboard with burlap. I just used my hot glue gun to pull the sides first and then the top and bottom.

Once that was done I stuck it back in the frame...

And then I flipped it right-side up... HOW Cute!! I almost like it just like this and you can put anything on it:)

Now for the fun part.... I got my new black candlesticks and put them on top of the tray. I then put all my baby ghost pumpkins on the bottom... don't they make you smile?? Finally I put 3 gourds on each candlestick and I was done... What do you think?? I will be sharing my frugal fall centerpiece over at Thrifty Finds at Southern Hospitality and at Met Mondays over at Between Naps on the Porch... Check it out!

  17. That is a great idea! And I love the light neutrals instead of orange for fall...orange and only orange can be a bit much and is really too much for most places.

  25. Hi Whitney, It is just so amazing how something so simple could make such a statement! I loved the change you made to this tray and the candlesticks. Those little white pumpkins just tickle me. I almost painted my candlesticks black, but once I saw the oiled bronze finish- I was hooked. Thanks for coming by and leaving such nice comments. :-) Sue
